Many employers are opting out of bricks and mortar facilities or at least minimizing the amount of space they utilize to supply work space for employees. It is not unusual for employees to work from home and visit the company headquarters for sales meetings, training and summits. Work at home environments save the employer by having less real estate and associated costs to support and for the employee it saves on commute time. As long as it works for both sides, it can be a win-win.

Now that broadband and cell towers have increased locations in the rural lake areas, lake home owners in the Finger Lakes are able to work from the lake with minimal interference or downtime. So instead of just fitting in weekends and vacation weeks at the lake home buyers have purchased, they can now enjoy the lake more by working from the lake. Of course being at the lake and working has to fit the person. For some it could be too much of a distraction, but for many it can be the incentive to get the project or job done, leaving more time for relaxation and enjoyment.

To support this need, many homes going on the lake home market on Canandaigua and Keuka Lakes are being staged with home office space. It just makes sense. A properly set up office can also leave room for a foldout bed or sleeping sofa for extra guests. If you will be using your home office for live webinars or conference call with customers, the office space should be in a separate room that can be closed off from sounds. It is all up to the owner how their office space is designed and defined.

But just imagine…when your workday is done, you are already at the lake! A leisurely boat ride, sipping a glass of wine on the dock or getting a little exercise paddling around in a kayak are right there waiting for you.
